Hello.
This is Ogana from OganA again today.
During this business trip to China,
I visited 'Aman Yangyun' in Shanghai.
Aman resorts are already very well known,
but this was the first time I had seen a place expressed in this form in Shanghai,
so I personally had high expectations.
A place where space, gastronomy, and relaxation
were all perfect
What you feel the moment you see Aman Yangyun

What I felt the moment I entered the resort was
that it felt like they had created a whole world, not just a hotel.
Interior finishes, spatial scale, and circulation
all of these were designed with incredible precision.

What stood out especially was
that while it preserved a distinctly Chinese sensibility,
it also blended in Japanese minimalism.
Chinese, yet Japanese.
The subtly refined balance was impressive.
Why is Aman also so good at food? (Lazhu, Yinlu)

For the first evening, I had dinner at a Cantonese restaurant called 'Lazhu'.

The signature dish I ordered was
spiny lobster, priced at 2,560 yuan.
That was about 500,000 won,
and the taste was convincing not just because of the price,
but because of the ingredients and the quality of the cooking.

The mapo tofu was also impressive.
The tofu had a high density, and shrimp was added,
which made the texture much more pronounced.
Lazhu did not push the seasoning too strongly,
but instead seemed to interpret the dish well,
focusing on the texture and balance of the ingredients.

On the second evening, I had hot pot at the 'Yinlu' restaurant.
It is the best hot pot I have ever had in my life.

Unlike regular hot pot,
this place keeps the temperature steady with a brazier
and serves each ingredient at its ideal level of doneness.

The broth was a clear soup base,
with the clean taste and depth typical of a chicken stock base very well preserved.
The finishing noodles were also highly complete,
and it was an experience that slightly changed my 기준 for hot pot.
Aman’s unmistakable experience

What impressed me most about this resort was the air.
Nature feels so alive that you can sense phytoncides,
and the humidity is just right, making it extremely comfortable.

In particular, they brought in a 1,600-year-old tree as it was
and blended it into the space,
which felt like more than just interior design—
it felt like time itself had been designed into the space.

I have experienced many high-end hotels,
but the atmosphere Aman creates is definitely different.
It is heavy, but not excessive;
restrained, yet with a depth that comes from the space.
I think this is Aman’s way of expressing space.

In the end, this was a resort that designed the entire experience,
from the space, to the food, to the air.
It was a place where I could personally feel
why Aman is special.
I think it is a space that is well worth experiencing
at least once.
