How to Enhance the Results of Rejuran Healer with Hand Injections in Hongdae

Hello. I’m Won-jin Cho, the director of Chai Clinic, where I have been treating skin conditions in Hongdae for 10 years.

I received Rejuran while crying because it was so painful,

but I can’t really tell whether it worked.

It is often described as one of the most painful procedures.

Rejuran Healer, in particular, has a notorious reputation^^;

When reviews of the same procedure are completely opposite, it is only natural to hesitate over whether to undergo it.

However, when I meet people in the consultation room who return saying they did not see results,

there is a real reason why the reviews are so divided.

In most cases, the outcome depends not on whether Rejuran itself is good or bad,

but on “how and by whom it was administered.”

So today, I’ll explain from a doctor’s perspective everything from how Rejuran Healer works and the factors that affect its results,

to how to approach treatment when Rejuran alone is not enough.

First, let’s look at how Rejuran changes the skin.

Rejuran Healer is a procedure that injects a regenerative ingredient, PN, purified from salmon DNA into the dermal layer of the skin.

When this ingredient stimulates fibroblasts—the cells that produce collagen in the dermis—

the skin creates new collagen on its own and recovers from within.

The important point here is that Rejuran is completely different from a filler.

Fillers create volume by filling empty spaces with a substance,

whereas Rejuran does not fill anything. Instead, it places the “materials and signals” needed for the skin to regenerate into the dermis.

That is why it addresses concerns related to the quality of the skin itself, such as rough texture, fine lines, dryness that feels as if it comes from within,

stretched pores, and reduced elasticity.

There is one more important point: Rejuran is injected directly into the dermis by hand.

(Of course, when requested, I also administer it evenly using the Derma Shine device.

However, because the target depth differs depending on the area of the skin, hand injections generally produce better results whenever possible.

You can probably see why if you notice that I wear a wrist brace almost every day.)

The photo above shows me administering Rejuran using the Derma Shine device. Since I was treating myself, I had no choice but to use the device, but for patients, I prefer to administer it by hand. It produces better results.

The depth at which the product is injected, how evenly it is distributed, and whether a sufficient amount is delivered inevitably vary from one practitioner to another.

This is precisely why the results can be completely different even when the same Rejuran product is used.

2. Four factors that determine the results of Rejuran Healer

So, among the many dermatology clinics in Hongdae, how can you choose one where you will see the proper effects of Rejuran Healer?

You can evaluate them based on the following four criteria.

1. Is it injected at the appropriate depth in the dermis?

Rejuran must be delivered at the appropriate depth in the dermis to work as intended.

In fact, the results of Rejuran Healer also vary depending on which layer it is injected into.

Although we say that it is injected into the dermis, the dermis itself is divided into several layers.

If you are undergoing Rejuran Healer because of dryness or a lack of moisture, the upper dermis is targeted.

The product then remains there for a longer period and can help improve moisture levels.

In this case, clearly visible raised bumps are more likely to appear.

Then, does the absence of bumps mean there were no results?

What if you are undergoing Rejuran for pores, scars, or wrinkles?

Because collagen production is important in these cases, the lower dermis is targeted.

This is because the lower dermis contains many fibroblasts that produce collagen.

Conversely, if the injection goes too deep, it passes beyond the area where regeneration is needed, making it difficult for the effects to remain.

In the case shown in the photo above, you can also see that the fine pores were noticeably reduced compared with before treatment.

What should you be most cautious about?

The product may all escape into the fatty layer below the dermis during injection.

Because Rejuran Healer can be quite painful, some practitioners administer it using a relatively less painful cannula.

(A cannula is a needle with a blunt tip.)

However, the dermis is dense and difficult to inject into with a cannula, making it easy for a significant amount of the product to be lost into the fatty layer.

2. Are authentic products and the correct dosage being used?

It may sound obvious, but this is still important.

Rejuran is an expensive procedure.

Therefore, some clinics dilute the authentic product to reduce costs or use less than the prescribed amount.

This means that the concentration and amount of the regenerative ingredient delivered into the dermis are reduced accordingly.

Naturally, the results will also be reduced.

If a clinic is unusually inexpensive, it is worth asking yourself at least once how that price is possible.

3. Have realistic expectations regarding the number of sessions, and follow aftercare instructions

It takes time for new collagen to form.

Rejuran is generally administered as a course of three to four sessions at intervals of two to three weeks, and the results often last around six months after completing approximately four sessions.

If you expect a dramatic transformation after just one session, it is easy to be disappointed. It is more accurate to think of it as a treatment in which the skin improves layer by layer with each session.

The temporary raised marks that appear immediately after treatment indicate that the product has been properly delivered into the dermis, and when the injections are performed correctly, they usually subside within two to three days.

However, neglecting moisturization and sun protection during this period can reduce the results, so you should also pay attention to aftercare.

After Rejuran treatment, the skin goes through several steps to recover. One of them is LED care.

3. What to do when Rejuran Healer alone is not enough

So, can all skin concerns be resolved with Rejuran alone?

Of course not.

Rejuran Healer in Hongdae is effective for improving the “quality of the skin,” including texture, fine lines, small pores, elasticity, and internal dryness.

However, Rejuran alone may not be enough to address significantly enlarged pores, deep scars, or already reduced and sagging elasticity.

This is the Mark-Vu diagnostic device at our clinic.

That is why I first use diagnostic equipment such as Mark-Vu to check the condition of the pores, sebum, pigmentation, and elasticity

before deciding whether to proceed with Rejuran Healer.

If the assessment indicates that Rejuran alone will not be sufficient, we create a combination treatment suited to that particular skin.

For enlarged pores or deeply established scars, a combination such as using the Trifill Pro device to break up fibrotic areas and combining it with Juvelook may be more appropriate.

If reduced elasticity and sagging occur together with dry skin,

we may also plan a lifting treatment such as Thermage or SereF, which induces collagen production while producing a tightening effect.

The reason we have many existing devices while continually introducing new ones is

that we do not rely on a single device. Instead, we create combinations suited to each person’s skin.
