Orthodontic period: 23/2~25/1
Hello.
This is UPenn Bareun Dental Clinic.
How has everyone been?
Today,
we’d like to introduce an Invisalign First case for a child patient with an anterior crossbite at UPenn Bareun Dental Clinic :)

Orthodontic period: 23/2~25/1
In this patient’s case,
there was an anterior crossbite,
and the upper and lower front teeth were contacting each other front-to-front,
so the lower front teeth were experiencing severe gingival recession T^T
A bite between the front teeth must be corrected not only for aesthetic reasons but also for dental health.

If the malocclusion between the front teeth, called an incisal edge bite or anterior crossbite, is left untreated,
the force that molars receive while chewing is transmitted directly to the front teeth as well,
which can cause tooth wear or fracture,
continuous force can lead to root resorption,
and it can affect not only the teeth’s chewing function but also lead to temporomandibular joint disorders,
while occlusal trauma can cause gingival recession.
In the end, this can shorten the lifespan of the teeth T^T
To improve these issues,
at UPenn Bareun Dental Clinic,
a Jamsil pediatric orthodontic clinic,
a Jamsil adolescent Invisalign clinic,
a Jamsil Invisalign First specialty clinic,
a Jamsil Diamond-level Invisalign clinic,
we completed both first-stage pediatric orthodontics and second-stage orthodontics at once through Invisalign First :)

Orthodontic period: 23/2~25/1

Orthodontic period: 23/2~25/1
What is Invisalign First (= Invisalign first-stage orthodontics)?
→ It is an Invisalign appliance specialized for children ages 6–10 who are in the growth stage.
It is an orthodontic treatment for children in the early mixed dentition period, allowing us to check for problems related to the growth of the jawbones and erupting teeth.
By creating tooth alignment and space at the same time, it helps the permanent teeth erupt properly.
Through Invisalign simulation,
we can evaluate the child’s occlusion and tooth alignment relationships and predict how they will develop.
It can improve skeletal issues such as jaw growth,
and because it is removable, it is convenient for oral hygiene.
1st ClinCheck (30 aligners)

For the first ClinCheck, treatment was carried out with 30 Invisalign aligners.
As planned in the ClinCheck,
the arch expanded and gradually changed into a normal bite.
In pediatric anterior crossbite treatment,
there are several things to consider:
- When there is a skeletal imbalance between the upper and lower jaws
- When the jaw position is normal but the tooth alignment or position has problems
- When there are habits such as pushing the tongue forward, mouth breathing, or habitually protruding the lower jaw
It is best to begin first-stage orthodontic treatment while considering these factors :)
This patient,
after diagnosis at UPenn Bareun Dental Clinic,
had problems with tooth alignment and position,
and the anterior crossbite was not severe in a skeletal sense,
so this was a suitable case for resolving the crossbite with #InvisalignFirst :)
2nd ClinCheck (21 aligners)

For the second ClinCheck,
we proceeded with 21 aligners.
In addition to the existing attachments, extra attachments were placed to help tooth movement smoothly.
“Invisalign First”
is made to fit children’s primary and permanent teeth exactly,
and since a new set is replaced every 5 to 7 days, it is hygienic.
Compared with existing orthodontic appliances, it causes less discomfort and pain, making it more comfortable,
and because it is removable, brushing is easier and the risk of cavities is relatively lower.
It is less risky even during vigorous movement or sports, and it is easy to clean, making management easier.
Unlike conventional bracket orthodontics, there are few cases where patients have to visit urgently because of poking wires or detached brackets.
3rd (17 aligners)

For the third stage, we completed treatment with 17 aligners,
supplementing and improving the previous ClinCheck.
Invisalign First for growing children
provides customized functions for children in the mixed dentition stage.
It is advantageous for highly predictable arch expansion and space maintenance for erupting permanent teeth.
It provides treatment for a wide range of malocclusions, including arch form development and maintaining space for erupting dentition.
4th (22 aligners)

Finally, for delicate detailing,
we carried out a fourth ClinCheck
(a total of 22 aligners).
At UPenn Bareun Dental Clinic,
Jamsil pediatric Invisalign
Jamsil children’s Invisalign
Jamsil middle-school Invisalign
Jamsil adolescent Invisalign
Jamsil Diamond-level Invisalign
through Invisalign First,
we completed both first-stage and second-stage orthodontic treatment at once.

These are the photos after completing both first-stage and second-stage orthodontics with Invisalign First :)
Invisalign, started during the period of permanent tooth replacement,
provides customized functions for child patients
and is advantageous for arch expansion and securing space for erupting permanent teeth.
Also,
compared with conventional wire braces,
Invisalign causes less pain,
and because it does not commonly cause wire poking or bracket detachment that requires emergency visits,
it is a highly preferred orthodontic appliance for busy children and adolescent patients with school and academy schedules.

Orthodontic period: 23/2~25/1

Orthodontic period: 23/2~25/1
Compared with before, when the teeth were uneven and the lower jaw looked more prominent because of the anterior crossbite,
after adolescent Invisalign treatment,
the crossbite improved,
space was created for the front teeth that had not erupted,
the teeth found their proper positions,
the midline was aligned, and the teeth became neat,
resulting in a more natural smile :)
If you are worried about frequent dental visits because of a busy academy and school life,
Invisalign is a treatment method where the aligners are changed on set dates,
and visits are possible at 8-week intervals, or as long as every 3 to 4 months.
Invisalign for students living abroad is also possible,
and it is especially suitable for adolescents and working adults who do not have much time.
