Acne Scar Care
Step by Step Without Irritation
When pimples such as acne appear on our skin,
going at them with your hands or irritating them with tweezers
can instead cause inflammation and lead to wounds.
Scars may form after acne is removed.
To prevent marks on the skin, it is recommended to reduce
irritation and care for it step by step.
Let’s take a look at the types of acne scars and how to care for them!

Types of Acne Scars
Acne scars are not simply “marks” that appear on the skin.
There are various types.
Because they differ depending on the skin condition and the depth of the scar, there are several types.

- Pigmented Marks
These are red or brownish marks left after acne heals.
They are temporary pigmentation deposited during the skin’s recovery process after inflammation. They may gradually fade over time, but sun protection is important.

- Depressed Scars (Indented Scars)
These are scars that remain in a sunken shape and are one of the most typical types of acne scars.
They can appear as ice pick scars, which are very small and deeply pitted like a needle prick; rolling scars, which look as though the skin has generally sunk in in a wavy pattern; or boxcar scars, which are box-shaped depressions with defined edges.
When inflammation progresses deeply and damages the dermis, it can remain as an indented scar. In many cases, this is difficult to recover naturally over time.

- Hypertrophic and Keloid Scars
These are red, firm, raised scars and can be a form of acne scarring. They may appear on the chest, back, jawline, or, less commonly, around the cheeks where the sebaceous glands are more developed.
These types of scars can occur when fibrous tissue grows excessively during the healing process.
If irritated, they may become larger or be accompanied by itching.
The likelihood of occurrence varies from person to person, and early response is important.

How to Prevent Acne Scars
It is much more important to manage scars “before they form” than “after they form.”
Check the easily overlooked parts of your daily habits!
- Do Not Squeeze with Your Hands
This is the most common, but also the biggest cause.
Bacteria on your hands can worsen inflammation. In particular, squeezing with your fingernails can damage the dermis and leave scars, so it is important not to touch them with your hands.
- Sun Protection
If acne areas are exposed to ultraviolet rays, pigmentation may become worse, so even indoors, apply sunscreen carefully. A non-irritating sunscreen is essential.
- Pay Attention Before Inflammation Progresses
Rather than leaving red, enlarging acne untreated,
we recommend reducing irritation and keeping the area clean in your daily life.

Daily Care Tips
Even skin that already has scars can benefit from maintaining a healthy skin barrier and reducing irritation.
First, check the routines you follow every day!
- Wash Gently
Water that is too hot, rough towels, and strong pressure can make the skin more sensitive.
Try lukewarm water + a mildly acidic cleanser + gentle washing with your hands.

- Avoid Irritating the Skin
Be careful, as routinely using scrubs, exfoliants, and similar products can instead cause damage.
When your skin condition is not good, focusing on hydration and soothing may be more helpful.
- Consistent Moisture Supply
Scar areas can look more noticeable when they are dry, so please choose a non-irritating moisturizing cream.

Ingredients That May Help Reduce Acne Scars
If you carefully look at the ingredients in products on the market, you can also find ingredients that may help with scar care.
✔️ Allantoin
It helps soothe the skin and is used to gently care for damaged skin.
✔️ Panthenol (Vitamin B5)
It helps restore the skin barrier and is effective in reducing irritation.
✔️ Niacinamide
This is an ingredient often used to help relieve red marks and pigmentation.
It has both brightening and soothing functions, so it is often used without burden even on sensitive skin.
✔️ Madecassoside
