How many times have you washed your germ-covered hands today?

Today, we’ll learn why you shouldn’t keep touching your face with your hands!
We’ll cover both commonly known and lesser-known information,
so please read on!

Please explain!

Hands and Germs
You carry your smartphone in your hand every day, right?
Because smartphones are frequently touched and difficult to clean, they contain a great many germs!
And we touch them with our hands every day!
In addition, the palms and fingers have many creases, which provide places where germs can hide.
Because of these structural characteristics, germs are not easily removed!

How Germs Affect the Skin
Surprisingly, germs do not only have harmful effects on the skin.
They can also have beneficial effects, and all the germs living on the skin are
called the skin microbiome.
Disrupting this balance can actually become a problem.
Germs that have positive effects are called “beneficial skin bacteria”!
They can help activate the immune system or suppress harmful bacteria!
However, “harmful skin bacteria,” which have negative effects, also exist!
They are known to affect acne, folliculitis, atopic dermatitis, and other conditions!
Just as balance is important in everything, germs can have various effects on the skin.
And as explained above, people’s hands carry many germs.
Therefore, before touching your face,
you should remove the germs on your hands first!
It is important to make handwashing a habit.

Do You Only Need to Be Careful About Germs?
Being careful about germs is important, but
frequently touching your face with your hands can cause
various skin problems beyond simple bacterial infection!
Skin barrier damage and dermatitis:
Rubbing or scratching forcefully damages the skin barrier, the outermost layer of the skin.
When the barrier is damaged, redness, flaking, inflammation, and other issues can occur more easily!
Hyperpigmentation and scarring:
When you squeeze or touch acne or pimples forcefully with your hands, inflammation can worsen
and the skin tissue can be easily damaged!
Worsening of acne and folliculitis:
Squeezing acne with your hands is one of the common causes of worsening inflammation.
When inflammatory acne ruptures, bacteria can spread to the surrounding skin and cause greater inflammation.
This can also lead to acne mechanica or folliculitis.
*Acne mechanica: Acne caused by repeated friction or similar irritation to the skin

The Proper Way to Wash Your Hands
The handwashing method recommended by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency is as follows!
Six Steps for Handwashing
Rub palm to palm: Apply soap to your palms and make enough lather.
Rub with fingers interlaced: Clean thoroughly between your fingers.
Rub the backs of your hands against your palms: Wash the backs of your hands carefully without missing any areas.
Rub with fingers interlaced: Interlace your fingers and rub each joint and section of your fingers.
Rub each thumb with the opposite palm: Clean each thumb while rotating it.
Rub your fingers against the opposite palm: Wash thoroughly, including under your fingernails.
Time: Wash your hands under running water for at least 30 seconds.
Use of soap: Because it is difficult to completely remove germs with water alone,
you must use soap.
Drying: After washing your hands, completely remove the moisture
with a clean towel or paper towel.

Keep Your Smartphone as Clean as Possible!
I think you’ve probably seen enough posts about how to wash your hands!
So, I’ll also tell you how to properly care for your smartphone!
Do not rub your smartphone forcefully or wipe it with a rough material!
This could damage the anti-contamination coating on the smartphone screen.
It is also a good idea to wipe it with disinfecting alcohol wipes with a 0% concentration or with a microfiber cloth lightly moistened with a 70% alcohol solution.
Be careful not to spray alcohol directly onto the device.
Don’t forget to disinfect your smartphone case as well.
Plastic or silicone cases can be disinfected in the same way as the smartphone itself.

Not many people carefully manage the germs on their hands, and most people don’t have any major problems!
Of course, you may not have experienced any problems from this so far!
But if a problem does occur, it will have been affected by these habits!
The reason prevention is important is to avoid trying to repair the barn after the cow has escaped—in other words,
to prevent problems before they occur!
Accordingly, I plan to continue covering proper preventive methods like these,
so please feel free to ask questions!
