Hello~
I’m Director Yoon Tae-ho of Seoul Bardi Dental Clinic.
Many people get treatment right away even when just one tooth has a problem,
but many patients only come in
when several teeth have problems.
That is, when both the front teeth and molars have problems at the same time~
The issue is... most patients usually want treatment for the front teeth first.
It seems this is probably because front teeth are related to appearance.
What is the order when doing anterior and molar implants at the same time?
Today, from a specialist’s point of view,
I’ll explain why molar treatment should be done first.
Reason for the visit: Please make the front teeth first
240423
The patient came in with severe decay throughout the teeth,
and in the case of the front teeth, only the roots remained.
They said they had to continue social activities
and felt like people kept looking only at their teeth,
so they wanted the front teeth treated first.
Doesn’t eating feel uncomfortable?
You would need to treat the molars to eat..
When I asked,
They said that eating was already uncomfortable anyway,
so other people’s gaze was more important.
I do understand how the patient feels...
In fact, when dentists decide the order of treatment,
they often recommend treating the molars first.
Let me explain it in an easy-to-understand way~~
240423 The front teeth and molars both had problems
<Reasons why molar treatment should be done first>
- The importance of chewing function
Molars handle the most basic function of chewing and breaking down food.
In contrast, front teeth have a cutting function.
They are highly aesthetic,
but
functionally, molars are more important.
If you cannot chew properly, it can even lead to digestive problems,
so we tend to treat the molars first.
- A necessary condition to protect the front teeth
If the molars do not function properly,
chewing force becomes concentrated on the front teeth.
Because of this, excessive force is applied and front teeth often develop problems quickly.
In this situation, even if front teeth are treated first,
there is a high chance that problems will recur soon or the treated area may be damaged.
If there are no molars, the front teeth have to bear the force....
- For prosthetic fabrication from an aesthetic standpoint

When teeth are generally damaged,
the height of the teeth is often collapsed as well.
Today’s patient also had only one chewing area left.
When tooth height collapses,
the shape of the face also changes.
In short, it can create an older-looking impression.
To restore the collapsed height to normal,
we first build the height with the molars
and then make the front teeth~
The downside of this is that treatment time can become longer.
Because of this, these days we perform anterior and molar implants at the same time
in order to help patients eat sooner
and also satisfy aesthetic needs.

Teeth that only had roots left
Areas with severe decay
Loose areas due to poor gum condition
After extracting the teeth that needed to be removed,
the upper and lower implants were placed
with anterior and molar implants performed at the same time.
It was all treated in one day~
This can reduce the burden of surgery
and significantly shorten the treatment period~
When making the prosthetics,
we can also connect the front teeth and molars at the same time~

This was a case that satisfied the treatment order
and also reflected the patient’s requests.
Because the molars were properly restored,
there is no need to put excessive force on the front teeth either~~
I’ll introduce more cases in the future.
Thank you.
