Hello~
This is Director Yoon Tae-ho of Seoul Bardi Dental Clinic.
When establishing a treatment plan,
a variety of factors are considered.
I have also planned treatments in various ways in Gangnam, and...
the part that gives patients the greatest satisfaction is
"Being able to eat well as soon as possible."
Today, I will explain
treating problematic teeth by getting upper and lower implants at the same time to shorten the treatment period.
Reason for visiting: There is a bad smell in my mouth

230607
The mouth has prosthetic restorations overall.
In other words, there isn’t a single tooth that has not been treated.
In such cases, cavities can develop under the prosthetic work,
so regular dental visits are necessary...
However, it seems they had not visited for a long time.
After the examination...
there appeared to be a problem with a tooth that had previously undergone root canal treatment.

230607
There are many reasons why a bad smell can come from the mouth,
but bone has been resorbed around the root tip of the tooth that had root canal treatment,
and signs of inflammation are visible.
There were problems at a total of four sites,
but the worst area was the upper and lower right side.
These areas were loose.

230630 Please check the boundary where the bone has resorbed!
On the X-ray, you can also see that the area where bone has resorbed
and the area where it has not are clearly divided.
The resorbed area is black,
and the healthy area is white.
First, the bad smell was somewhat relieved by thoroughly cleaning the mouth through scaling and gum treatment,
and then we decided to extract the upper and lower teeth with the most severe inflammation
and proceed with implant treatment.
In this process, for the upper implant,
"bone grafting" was needed to reinforce the weakened gum bone.
For the lower tooth,
the bone quality was firm, so the procedure was done without additional bone grafting.

230908
On the same day, upper and lower implants were placed at the same time.
For the upper molar, bone grafting was performed,
but because there was a severe lack of bone,
the implant was placed and the surgery was completed with the implant buried under the gum.
A second surgery will be needed later to reopen the gum,
but
it also has the advantage of preventing the implant from being infected by external factors such as food entering from outside.

231226
This is the appearance three months after surgery.
After confirming that bone had formed around the implant,
a surgery to open the gum was performed.

240227
We brought the buried implant out into the world.
After connecting a small cap above the gum,
we waited for the gum to fill in.

240315 작업 of attaching the crown
People often think of implants as the crown part on top that performs the chewing function,
but
an implant actually replaces the tooth root.
Because of that, to make the crown,
we insert an intermediate post that connects the implant and the crown,
and then take impressions.
The upper and lower implant surgeries were performed at the same time,
and the crown-making process was also done all at once.

241127
This is the finished result.
Because the upper molar area lacked bone,
it took a little more time.

240503
The crown part was completed in white
for an aesthetic finish!
If upper and lower implants are placed at the same time,
the total number naturally increases,
so patients often ask, "Can that really be done all at once...?"
The surgery time does not increase significantly
(about 10 minutes extra per implant),
and rather, it has the advantage of finishing in one surgery what would otherwise require two.
The number of visits also decreases.
Unless the number is excessively large,
it is possible to do the upper and lower sides at the same time!
Thank you.
