Hello.
I’m the director of Seoul Vardi Dental Clinic.
Usually, when patients come in for an implant consultation,
they first ask
what brand we use,
and what kind of materials it is made from.
Of course, brand and materials are important,
but from a dentist’s point of view,
the real key that determines implant success is something else.
Today, through digital technology,
I’ll explain in detail how we find the safest path,
through an actual patient case.
What Is More Important Than the Brand for Implants?
Cheonho Digital Guide Implants: How Are They Different from Regular Implants?
Many people believe that using expensive, high-quality materials
will always lead to better results,
but in fact, the most important thing in implants is
where they are placed, and at what angle.

No matter how excellent the brand product is,
if it is placed in the wrong position,
problems are bound to arise eventually.
If an implant is once positioned incorrectly,
the biting force will not be distributed evenly afterward,
leading to a misaligned bite
or repeated breakage of the prosthetic.
In severe cases,
inflammation may repeatedly occur in the gums around the implant,
and the implant that was so difficult to place
may need to be removed again.

In the end, it is no exaggeration to say that the lifespan of an implant is determined more by diagnosis and planning than by the material.
The Difference Between Digital Guide Implants and Regular Implants
Cheonho Digital Guide Implants: How Are They Different from Regular Implants?
In the past, conventional implant methods often relied on
medical staff experience and two-dimensional X-rays
to determine the placement site.

If the doctor is experienced, good results can certainly be achieved,
but because it is a human process...
to fully identify complex bone structures or the location of nerves,
there is inevitably some possibility of error~
On the other hand, the digital guide (navigation) method combines
3D CT and intraoral scanner data
to simulate the surgery on a computer in advance.

This allows us to find the optimal path
for the implant,
and then create a custom surgical guide
that directs the procedure along that path.

Also, because surgery can be performed by making only a small hole
without a large incision in the gums,
there is less bleeding, swelling, and pain,
and recovery is faster, which is the biggest difference.
A Patient Case Reconstructed with Digital Guide Implants
Cheonho Digital Guide Implants: How Are They Different from Regular Implants?
Let me explain the strengths of digital guides in more depth
through a recent case of a patient who visited our clinic.
This patient had been using partial dentures on the upper and lower jaws
for a long time,
but at some point the lower denture kept wobbling,
and they came in saying chewing had become uncomfortable.
After examination, among the 9 remaining teeth that supported the denture,
as many as 6 were severely loose due to periodontal disease.

Since the support had collapsed,
it was only natural that the denture could no longer do its job~
After discussing with the patient, we decided to remove the bad teeth
and use a digital guide
to place a total of 7 implants and reconstruct the entire lower dentition.
The most important point in this case was
to completely avoid the inferior alveolar nerve
that runs through the lower jaw.

If an implant even slightly touches this nerve,
serious side effects such as facial paralysis or sensory disturbance
may occur,
so it is one of the structures that must be handled with care.
With the conventional method,
the doctor would have placed it carefully while estimating the distance from the nerve canal
based on experience...

Using our digital system,
we identified the nerve position in advance through 3D data,
selected the strongest area of the jawbone,
and completed the design at the optimal angle.
Surgical Process
With the pre-made guide fixed inside the mouth,
we proceeded with the surgery,
and the 7 implants were placed stably
at the planned positions and depths.
231103
Although this was a difficult case with a large number of implants needed
and poor jawbone condition,
thanks to the guide, we were able to finish quickly and accurately
at the predetermined locations.

A More Comfortable Prosthetic Process with an Intraoral Scanner
Cheonho Digital Guide Implants: How Are They Different from Regular Implants?
After confirming that the implants had firmly fused with the bone,
we moved on to creating the final tooth shape.
At this stage as well, instead of the inconvenient impression-taking process,
where a rubber-like material is placed throughout the mouth
and the patient has to wait until it hardens,
we used an intraoral scanner.
240229
Just by lightly scanning with a camera,
we can obtain precise data,
and the patient was very comfortable without any foreign-body sensation.
240229
Using the scan data captured by the intraoral scanner,
we design the prosthetic precisely on a computer.

Thanks to that, the prosthetic was completed
without needing remakes^^

Are you worried because dentures are uncomfortable,
or have you been putting off treatment because you are afraid of surgery?
Digital implants are not simply a procedure that uses machines like this,
but a safest system that anticipates hidden risk factors in advance
and makes patient-tailored treatment possible.
Are you worried because dentures are uncomfortable,
or have you been putting off treatment because you are afraid of surgery?
Through an accurate diagnosis, we will help you find the safest
and most suitable treatment plan for you.
Thank you for reading this long post today.^^
