Hello, this is Lee Jiham Dermatology Gangnam Branch.
Have you ever felt that your jawline looks blurrier every time you take a photo lately? Especially when taking selfies, many people keep changing their angle, and feel upset because their facial contours are not as defined as before. There are so many dermatology clinics in the Gangnam area, so it can be hard to decide which one to visit.
Today, I’d like to explain V-ro Lifting in detail based on a conversation I had with a patient in the consultation room.

What kind of procedure is V-ro Lifting?
I began explaining it slowly to the patient. V-ro Lifting is a skin-tightening procedure that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound technology. If you look at the structure of our skin, it consists of multiple layers, including the epidermis, dermis, and the deeper SMAS layer, which is the fascia layer. As time passes, these layers gradually lose elasticity and begin to sag downward. It is similar to a newly pitched tent that loses its tension and becomes loose over time.
V-ro Lifting precisely delivers ultrasound energy focused on skin tissue that has lost elasticity, especially the dermis and SMAS layer. When this energy creates a thermal reaction in the deeper layers of the skin, the body automatically activates a mechanism to repair the area. In the process of rebuilding damaged tissue, fresh collagen and elastin are produced. The collagen that is formed in this way supports the skin firmly, like a building’s steel framework.
A notable advantage of V-ro Lifting is that it allows radiofrequency and ultrasound procedures to be performed at the same time. Radiofrequency broadly applies thermal energy from the skin’s surface to the dermis, improving overall skin elasticity, while ultrasound penetrates much deeper into the SMAS layer to create a powerful lifting effect. As these two methods are combined, microscopic thermal coagulation points are formed to help skin regeneration and restoration, contract sagging skin tissue, and improve skin remodeling and elasticity.

The procedure method and results of V-ro Lifting
I explained the actual procedure in detail to the patient. V-ro Lifting takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. First, the skin is cleansed thoroughly, and then markings are made on the skin so that the ultrasound can reach the exact points. Next, ultrasound energy is delivered into the skin, and during this process, you may feel a slight tingling sensation near the bones.
I also honestly addressed the pain, which was the patient’s biggest concern. Sensitivity to pain varies from person to person, but there may be a slight tingling stimulus when the ultrasound passes around the bones. However, for most people it is quite tolerable, and if needed, applying anesthetic cream in advance can greatly reduce discomfort. In fact, many people say the pain is much less than they expected.
"Then, doctor, when will I see the results?" This was the part the patient was most curious about. With V-ro Lifting, you can feel a certain degree of immediate tightening right after the procedure. However, the main effects appear between 4 and 12 weeks later. That is because it takes time for collagen to be newly produced and for tissues to realign within the body. In most cases, you can experience the maximum effect after 2 to 3 months.
How long the effect lasts is also important. Although it varies from person to person, it usually lasts about 6 months to 1 year. Of course, this can differ depending on skin care habits, age, and lifestyle. If you carefully protect your skin from UV rays, drink enough water, and maintain a regular routine, you can extend the effect for longer. That is why we recommend receiving repeat treatments every 6 months to 1 year to maintain the results.

V-ro Lifting is suitable for these people
During my consultation with the patient, I explained which cases are especially suitable for V-ro Lifting. First, it is suitable for people who want to receive radiofrequency and ultrasound procedures at the same time. Since it uses two types of energy in combination, it can save time and may produce better results. Second, it is a good fit for people who need precise treatment on focused and delicate areas. Because V-ro Lifting allows the energy penetration depth to be adjusted individually according to skin depth, it can be performed delicately to match specific areas of the face or skin condition.
Third, it is good for people who want a customized procedure based on skin depth. Since everyone’s skin thickness and degree of sagging are different, V-ro Lifting, which can be optimized individually, is efficient. Fourth, it is well suited for people who want a procedure that allows immediate return to daily life. Temporary redness or swelling may appear after the procedure, but it usually subsides within 1 to 3 days, and you can wash your face and apply makeup on the same day.
Fifth, it is also good for people who want a procedure with less pain. Compared with conventional lifting procedures, the pain tends to be relatively mild, so it can be done without too much burden. Lastly, it is recommended for people who want energy delivered at various depths across the skin layers. Since energy can be delivered in multiple layers from the epidermis to the dermis and SMAS layer, a comprehensive lifting effect can be expected.

Pre- and post-procedure checks and care methods
I also carefully explained the pre- and post-procedure checks to the patient. On the day of the procedure, it is better to avoid heavy makeup, and if you have pimples or inflammation on the skin, you should let us know in advance. Also, if you are pregnant, have heart-related conditions, or have metal implants in the skin, the procedure may be difficult, so be sure to mention this during the consultation.
Post-procedure care is also very important. Most people can continue daily life without difficulty, but some swelling or redness may appear immediately after the procedure. This is a normal response and usually disappears naturally within 1 to 3 days, so there is no need to worry too much. Washing your face and applying makeup are possible from the same day, but it is best to minimize irritation to the skin if possible.
For one week after the procedure, please refrain from saunas, Korean-style steam rooms, and strenuous exercise. High heat or excessive sweating can irritate the treated area. Above all, you must be strict about sun protection. Because the skin is more sensitive after the procedure, exposure to UV rays can cause side effects such as pigmentation. Reapply sunscreen with SPF 50 or higher every 2 hours, and if possible, it is also good to use a hat or parasol.
Don’t forget to drink enough water and maintain moisturizing care. Since the skin needs plenty of moisture during the regeneration process, drinking about 1.5 to 2 liters of water a day and applying moisturizing products sufficiently can greatly help maintain the effect. These small care habits build up and help the results last longer and feel more satisfying.

This is not just a simple procedure, but a journey toward completing your beauty.
These days, when you look at social media, you sometimes come across overly dramatic procedure results. Faces that look unnaturally tight, or appearances that have changed completely from the person’s original image. Of course, there are people who want such results, but I prefer a natural look without overdoing it.
The greatest advantage of V-ro Lifting is its natural improvement. Rather than changing dramatically all at once, the skin improves gradually over time. So people around you are more likely to say, "You look a little different—did something happen?" rather than, "Did you have a procedure?" That is the ideal result in my view.
The changes that come with time cannot be completely reversed back to your 20s. But it is possible to age in a healthy, lively, and natural way. Just like tending a garden, if you consistently pay attention and provide proper care, you can maintain a beautiful appearance for a long time.
I hope the information shared today about V-ro Lifting was helpful in easing your skin concerns, even just a little. Most importantly, please remember that skin care does not happen overnight.
