[Dermatologist Lee Yudeuk]
Hello,
A place that creates a comfortable face,
not excessive change.
This is Leejham Dermatology.
Are you worried about marks that remain?
Today, I’d like to talk about managing chest acne marks, a concern many people have. It is an area that can be as bothersome as the face, but because it is covered by clothing, many people miss the right time to care for it. I often meet people who say that their confidence drops before summer outfits or special occasions. Such concerns are more common than you might think, and with the right approach at the right time, they can move in a positive direction.
A beauty consultation that helps you
I am dermatologist Lee Yudeuk.
I understand how you feel
Acne has improved, but
you are still struggling
with the marks left behind.
When it comes to summer clothing,
you may feel restricted,
or hesitate to visit a pool or
jjimjilbang.
These concerns go beyond
appearance alone and are
connected to confidence in
daily life.
With the right approach,
you can look for the possibility
of change.

Understanding pigmentation
Chest acne marks refer to the
pigmentation or redness left on
the skin as inflammation calms
down.
As inflammatory changes occur
and then subside, the skin tries
to recover on its own. During
this process, melanin pigment
may be produced excessively or
blood vessels may expand,
leaving red or brown marks.
Compared with the face, the
chest area has thicker skin and
tends to have more active sebum
production.
Because there is a lot of
irritation from friction with
clothing and sweat, it is an
environment where problems can
easily arise.
If you touch it with your hands,
the inflammation can become
deeper, and the marks may be
even darker.

Why should you pay attention?
Marks are not just a cosmetic
issue; they also have a strong
psychological impact.
Especially if you are dealing
with this concern at a young
age, it can lower your
confidence and create
restrictions in daily life.
You may feel self-conscious when
choosing clothes, and even
hesitate to travel with friends.
What matters is that if you take
the right approach at the right
time, you can look forward to
positive change.

What approaches are there?
Chest acne mark management
varies depending on the type and
depth of the marks.
Red marks and brown marks have
different characteristics, so an
accurate evaluation should come
first.
IPL uses a broad wavelength
range of light to selectively act
on pigmentation and dilated
blood vessels in the skin.
In particular, red marks are
often caused by dilated blood
vessels, and IPL is used for
these vascular lesions.
Treatment is usually performed
at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks,
and although individual
differences exist, you may
observe gradual changes after
multiple sessions.
Laser toning is also something
to consider.
It is especially used for brown
pigmentation, and the principle
is that the laser penetrates deep
into the skin and breaks down
melanin pigment.

Care in daily life
Chest acne marks can move in a
better direction when skin clinic
care is combined with daily
precautions.
First, sunscreen is more
important than anything else.
This is because ultraviolet rays
can make pigmentation darker.
When you are outdoors in the
summer, apply sunscreen
carefully to the chest area as
well.
Second, it is better to wear
breathable cotton clothing to
minimize irritation from friction
and sweat.
Third, exfoliation can also help.
However, if you do it too often
or rub too hard, it can irritate
the skin instead, so gentle care
with a mild product once or
twice a week is enough.

A journey we take together
Skin care is more than simply
addressing what is visible on
the surface; it is a process of
regaining confidence and daily
happiness.
Most important of all is natural
results without excess and long-
term trust.
Every skin is different.
Leejham Dermatology aims to
provide not a one-size-fits-all
approach, but evaluation and
solutions suited to each person’s
skin.

If you are worried about chest
acne marks, we recommend not
worrying alone and instead

with medical staff.
Even if it takes time, if you

you can experience positive
changes.

think of first when skin concerns
