[Reason Lee, Dermatology Specialist]
Hello,
A place that creates a comfortable face
rather than excessive change.
This is Lee Jiham Dermatology.
Today, through the story of one patient I met in the clinic, I’d like to talk about concerns about acne scars and the process of addressing them. I hope this will be practically helpful for those worried about Gangnam Station acne scarring, and I’ll speak honestly based on my experience.
A beauty consultation that is worth it
I’m Reason Lee, a dermatology specialist.
Does Gangnam Station acne scarring treatment really work?
Recently, a patient came to the clinic.
They were a working professional in their early 30s,
and from the moment they first walked into the exam room,
they kept their mask on the whole time.
Only after sitting down did they carefully take off the mask,
and deep, pitted scars on the cheeks and chin came into view.
The patient said, “I had severe acne during my teenage years,
but I didn’t receive proper treatment back then.
Now I’m even scared to look in the mirror,
and I avoid meeting people,”
and tears welled up in their eyes.
Even when trying to cover it with makeup, it wasn’t easy,
and while searching online for Gangnam Station acne scarring
treatments, they said they still half-doubted whether things could really improve.
I completely understood how the patient felt.
Acne scars are not just a skin issue,
but a concern that affects self-esteem and the quality of daily life.
So today, through this patient’s story,
I’d like to talk in detail about acne scars
and about a treatment method called CLO scar restoration.

Acne scars,
why do they form and why don’t they go away?
Acne scars form when inflammatory acne
damages the dermal layer of the skin.
If we compare our skin to a building,
the epidermis is like the outer wall,
and the dermis is like the pillars that support the structure.
When acne becomes severe,
those pillars are damaged.
Our body tries to restore the damaged area,
but unfortunately, it cannot be perfectly restored
to its original structure.
Scars generally appear in three forms.
There are deep, narrow scars that look like they were made by an awl,
called “ice pick scars,”
round, sunken “rolling scars,”
and square-shaped sunken “boxcar scars.”
In the patient I mentioned earlier,
all three types were mixed together.
That meant there were clear limits to a single treatment method.
There are several causes of scarring.
These include excessive sebum production due to hormonal changes during puberty,
the bad habit of squeezing acne by hand,
and missing the proper window for treatment, among others.
In particular, the deeper and longer the inflammation lasts,
the more severe the scarring tends to become.

Then how can existing acne scars be improved?
CLO is an approach that combines the first letters of
Chemical treatment,
Laser treatment,
and Operational treatment,
using all three treatments at the same time.
First, let me explain the chemical treatment called CROSS.
This method precisely applies a chemical called TCA
to the scar area.
This medication stimulates fibroblasts in the dermis
and promotes the synthesis of collagen and elastin.
The second is laser treatment.
A fractional laser is used,
and this laser stimulates the dermal layer of the skin
by creating thousands of tiny openings.
The idea is to induce skin regeneration through these small openings.
During this process, new collagen is produced,
which gradually raises the scars,
and at the same time can also help reduce pores.
The third is Operational treatment, meaning surgical treatment.
A representative procedure is subcision, which uses a special needle
to cut fibrous bands that pull the skin downward beneath the scar tissue.
It is especially useful for broadly sunken scars such as rolling scars,
by releasing skin that has been pulled downward.

Why use all three together
instead of just one?
The patient asked, “Doctor, why can’t we just use one method?”
That’s a very good question.
People looking into Gangnam Station acne scarring treatment
will likely have the same question.
The answer is simple.
That’s because acne scars do not come in just one form.
Even on one person’s face, there are usually several types of scars mixed together,
with different depths, shapes, and sizes.
Chemical treatment is effective for deeply pitted scars,
surgical treatment is effective for broadly sunken areas,
and laser treatment is effective for improving overall skin texture.
So when these three are combined,
various types of scars can be addressed at once.
CLO scar restoration can produce the best results
when the three treatment methods work in harmony.

The patient’s change, and the sense of fulfillment I felt
A few months later, the patient came back.
They had completed three sessions,
and their skin had definitely improved a lot.
The deeply pitted scars had risen considerably,
and the overall skin texture looked much smoother.
What was most impressive was the patient’s expression.
The withdrawn look they had on the first visit was gone,
and with a bright smile they said, “Doctor,
I’ve been enjoying putting on makeup lately.
My friends also say my skin has improved,
and I feel more comfortable meeting people again.”
Moments like this are probably the greatest reward
we can feel as doctors.

Finally, what I want to say
To everyone struggling with Gangnam Station acne scarring,
I want to say this.
Scars do not appear overnight,
and they do not improve overnight either.
But if you don’t give up
and keep managing them consistently,
there is definitely room for improvement.
At our clinic, we see dermatologic care
not simply as treatment,
but as “the process of completing your beauty.”
Most importantly, naturalness without excess matters.
Don’t compare yourself with others;
focus on becoming a little better today than you were yesterday.
Every skin is different.
That is why, rather than a simple procedure,
you need diagnosis and solutions tailored to your own skin.
