Hello, this is Easyhom Dermatology Gangnam Branch.
Today, I’d like to talk about Thermage FLX, which many people are curious about. Do you find yourself worrying about skin elasticity that seems different from before every time you look in the mirror?
In particular, if you feel that your cheeks are sagging or your jawline is becoming less defined, you may have thought about those concerns at least once while reading this. I meet patients with those same concerns every day in my clinic. And as we talk about skin together and look for the direction that best suits each person’s skin, that is also my treatment philosophy.
At Easyhom Dermatology, we aim to provide not just a simple procedure, but diagnosis and solutions tailored to each person’s skin. Natural results without overdoing it, and long-standing trust—that is the value we hold most dearly. I hope this article can be of some help to those considering Thermage FLX.

Not long ago, a patient in their early 40s opened the clinic room door and came in. Even from their expression, I could sense their concerns. As soon as they sat down, they spoke carefully. "Doctor, lately when I look in the mirror, I feel like it’s not my face anymore. My cheeks seem saggy, and my jawline seems less defined... I keep wondering if this is what getting older feels like."
I could feel the emotions behind those words. It wasn’t just a concern about appearance, but rather a complicated feeling about seeing oneself change. As I practice medicine, I often come face to face with those emotions. So that day, before talking about the procedure, I first explained slowly why the skin changes in that way.
As we age, collagen and elastin in the skin gradually decrease. Especially after our 40s, that decline becomes noticeably faster. It’s like the firm net that supported the skin loosens over time. As a result, the skin begins to sag downward under gravity, the cheek line drops, and the jawline becomes broader and less defined. The changes the patient felt were a completely natural part of the aging process.

What kind of procedure is Thermage FLX?
When I explain Thermage FLX to patients, I always use this analogy. "When the pillars and framework of a house have weakened, reinforcing the pillars themselves is different from just painting the surface. Thermage FLX works by directly stimulating the skin’s internal structure."
Thermage FLX is a procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to deliver thermal energy to the dermis and the SMAS layer beneath it. The SMAS layer is a structural layer that supports the skin, and stimulating this area induces new collagen production along with collagen remodeling.
If CPT was the previous standard among Thermage devices, FLX is an upgraded version with a wider treatment tip area and improved energy delivery uniformity. In particular, FLX uses AccuREP™ technology to detect the skin’s condition in real time and automatically adjust the amount of energy. Because skin thickness and condition differ by area, this technology, which adjusts energy consistently, plays a meaningful role in improving the precision of Thermage lifting.
In addition, FLX is equipped with a vibration function, which significantly reduces discomfort during the procedure. This is why people who have experienced Thermage before often say, "It was much more comfortable than before." The treatment time is also shorter, taking about 30 minutes to within 1 hour for the full face.

Who can benefit from Thermage lifting?
Thermage lifting may be especially recommended for people like these: those who want clear improvement in firmness but do not want surgery, those concerned about sagging cheeks and jawline, those who want overall skin tightening, and people in their 30s to 50s who are already experiencing signs of aging.
One of the advantages of Thermage lifting is that it usually does not interfere much with daily life after the procedure. Slight redness or swelling may appear immediately after treatment, but it usually subsides within 1 to 3 days, and washing your face and using basic skincare products are possible on the same day. Results can be felt to some extent right after the procedure, but because collagen gradually regenerates, many people experience the real improvement about 2 to 3 months later. Results vary from person to person, but generally last about 6 months to 1 year.
The patient I met that day also said at first, "It feels awkward to do something like this, and I didn’t know where or how to begin." I completely understand that feeling of uncertainty. The more someone is just starting skin care, the more information there is, and the more confusing it can become.

Post-Thermage lifting care—please remember this for sure
Thermage lifting itself is important, but post-treatment care has a major impact on how long the results last. Depending on how you care for your skin, you can maintain the effects longer and better.
First, for one week after the procedure, it is best to avoid activities that rapidly raise your body temperature, such as saunas, Korean jjimjilbang baths, and intense exercise. Since the skin has already been exposed to heat stimulation, exposing it to additional high-temperature environments may cause unexpected reactions.
Sun protection cannot be emphasized enough. Please apply sunscreen with SPF50+ thoroughly every day. If UV rays reach the skin during the regeneration period, pigmentation changes may occur, and collagen formation may also be hindered. Moisturizing care is also necessary. Adequate water intake and the use of moisturizing products help maintain the effects of the procedure.
It is also meaningful to plan regular maintenance. For Thermage lifting, maintenance can generally be considered every 6 months to 1 year, and combining it with skin boosters (such as JuvèLook, Rejuran, Virism, etc.) may provide synergy for hydration and skin texture improvement. However, the type and order of combined procedures should always be decided through consultation with a medical professional.

At Easyhom Dermatology, we believe that every skin is different. No single procedure is equally suitable for everyone. That is why I always focus on first examining the skin condition and then finding the right direction together for each person.
If you are considering Thermage lifting, it is important to begin not simply because it is a "trendy procedure," but because you understand why it is needed for your skin. Honest care, proven procedures, and natural results without overdoing it—that is the principle I strive to uphold every day in the clinic.
In order to become the first name that comes to mind when skin concerns arise, Easyhom Dermatology will continue to provide honest and careful care without change. I hope this article can be a small help to those who are considering Thermage lifting.
