Hello,
We are Yonsei Yegam Dental Clinic at City Hall Station, the only clinic in Jung-gu, Seoul, selected for six consecutive years by Seoul Metropolitan City through a three-step certification process, including on-site inspection, as a Seoul Metropolitan City-certified medical tourism partner institution.

Selected for a total of six years,
from the end of 2022 to 2024,
and from the end of 2025 to 2027.

Our Yonsei Yegam Dental Clinic is located right opposite the Samsung Main Building, near Exit 7 of City Hall Station,
in the midst of various major corporations and other businesses.
So, for busy modern office workers who value their time,
we strive to provide care with as little waiting as possible when appointments are made,
and we aim for accurate treatment.
Today, we would like to look at inlay treatment,
which is a cavity treatment with a fairly high proportion among cavities.
In general, molar cavities progress according to their size, extent, depth, and so on:
resin → inlay → (root canal treatment) + crown → extraction + implant in very severe cases.
In many cases, inlay treatment is performed when the cavity is between molars (between teeth)
or when the affected area is larger than what can be treated with resin.
Unlike resin treatment, which is usually done on the spot by removing the decay and completing the procedure inside the mouth,
inlay treatment requires removing the decay, shaping the tooth into an inlay form, and then fabricating the inlay outside the mouth.
Therefore, there is a fabrication period for the inlay, and because production takes quite some time,
it usually requires two visits: 1. the day the tooth is shaped for the inlay, and 2. the day the inlay is made and bonded.
That is how the inlay is completed.
<We post only photos for which we have obtained the patient's consent>

In cases of cavities that require inlay treatment,
they are often diagnosed more clearly on X-rays than by visual inspection.
When looking with the naked eye, there may be some translucency, but if the decay is inside the tooth or between teeth rather than on the surface, X-rays provide a clearer diagnosis.

Do you think there is no cavity in the left photo above? There is an interproximal cavity, and it can be seen from a dentist's perspective, but sometimes it is not actually a cavity, so an X-ray is needed for a more accurate judgment.
In fact, the X-ray confirmed that there was a cavity,
and the right photo taken during cavity removal clearly shows that the cavity is quite deep.

▲As shown above, interproximal cavities are not visibly dark on the surface like cavities that can be seen from the outside, but once drilled, they are found deeper inside.

At Yonsei Yegam Dental Clinic,
among tooth-colored ceramic inlays,
we use a material called E.max for tooth color.
As those who have searched extensively may know,
E.max inlays are a representative inlay material that many dental clinics prefer and use often.
Different clinics use different types of white inlays, such as resin inlays, hybrid inlays, and zirconia inlays.
In our experience, and after reviewing various papers and academic materials,
we currently think E.max inlays are the most resistant to breaking and bond well,
so we consider them the most ideal material for inlays and use them.
(Crowns are mainly made with zirconia crowns,
and the most suitable material also differs depending on whether it is an inlay or a crown.)
Of course, gold inlays can also be used, but due to the current price of gold, many patients feel a greater financial burden when it comes to gold inlays.
While gold inlays may be the least likely to break and are very strong,
because of the shape of an inlay, instead of the gold itself breaking, the adjacent natural tooth may break, or the tooth may develop a crack.
Therefore, unless it is a case in which a gold inlay is diagnosed as the most appropriate option,
our clinic uses E.max inlays as the inlay material.

The color is also similar to natural teeth, so it does not stand out like a gold inlay.
So far, this has been the inlay treatment explained by Yonsei Yegam Dental Clinic near Sunhwa-dong and Sogong-dong,
City Hall Station Yonsei Yegam Dental Clinic.
Our Yonsei Yegam Dental Clinic is a place that foreigners also deliberately visit
for cavity treatment and other dental care.
