Today, we’d like to introduce the case of a patient who needed implant reoperation after a problem developed in an implant area treated at another clinic.

📍 Condition at the Time of Visit

The patient had received implant treatment at another clinic several years ago, but recently came in because the gum around the implant had been swelling frequently, the implant had become loose, and pain kept recurring.

After detailed imaging and examination,

it was found that inflammation had developed around the existing implant fixture (root), and there was also significant surrounding bone loss, making removal and reoperation necessary.

🛠️ Preparation Before Implant Reoperation

Before the procedure, local anesthesia was administered, and after allowing enough time to confirm the anesthetic response, treatment was started so the patient could receive care in a comfortable and stable state.

🧰 Implant Removal and Reoperation

Using the MacGyver Kit

In this case, because there was bone loss due to inflammation around the implant fixture, we used a special removal kit, the ‘Megagen MacGyver Kit,’ and safely removed the implant while minimizing damage to the surrounding bone.

💡 The MacGyver Kit is a special surgical kit that can efficiently remove an existing fixture even when removal is difficult.

🦴 Bone Grafting + Guided Bone Regeneration Performed

After removing the fixture, we thoroughly removed the remaining inflamed tissue around the area, and performed both bone grafting and guided bone regeneration to restore the lost bone.

Using bone graft material to reinforce the deficient bone tissue and a collagen regeneration membrane (membrane), we helped guide and protect the grafted bone so it could settle well and new bone could grow.

💡 Guided bone regeneration is a treatment method that covers the area with a collagen artificial membrane so that bone can grow in the desired direction.

⚙️ Implant Re-implantation

Using Intrasurg 300 Plus

At the site where bone grafting and GBR were completed, we immediately re-implanted a new implant using Kavo’s Intrasurg 300 Plus implant-specific motor.

This device allows stable speed and power control, so it can be effectively applied even in complex procedures such as reoperation.

✅ Post-Treatment Guidance & Recovery Care

After the implant placement was completed, our director personally checked the surgical results and provided detailed instructions on precautions and recovery care.
