Emdogain, a Periodontal Regenerative Agent That Helps Regenerate Jawbone Around the Gums

As periodontal disease progresses,

the gums recede,

and the jawbone (alveolar bone) gradually decreases,

which can lead to situations where

the teeth become loose

or extraction has to be considered.

At times like this, depending on the condition,

one treatment option that can be considered

to preserve natural teeth as much as possible

is

periodontal regenerative agent treatment

'Emdogain (Emdogain)'.

What is Emdogain?

Straumann Emdogain is

a periodontal tissue regenerative agent developed

to induce the regeneration of periodontal tissues,

such as damaged gums and alveolar bone,

caused by periodontal disease.

It is not a concept of

automatically filling in tissue that has already been lost,

but rather a treatment that creates an environment

that allows the tissue to recover again.

to help support the effects of Emdogain more stably,

CASE 1. "My gums ache and pus comes out"

This was a case in which

the jawbone around the area where the tooth root splits

had been lost due to periodontitis,

weakening the tooth's support.

After removing the inflamed tissue,

Emdogain periodontal regenerative treatment was performed,

and about two months after treatment,

we were able to confirm that the jawbone between the teeth

was gradually recovering.

CASE 2. "My front gum has receded, and it looks unattractive"

The loss of jawbone in the front teeth area

had progressed relatively significantly,

and the tooth roots were highly exposed.

The patient visited the clinic not because of functional discomfort,

but because they were concerned about the aesthetic appearance.

Fortunately, the teeth were not very loose,

and under the diagnosis of the attending doctor,

Emdogain periodontal regenerative treatment was performed.

About one month after treatment,

we could observe signs that jawbone regeneration was progressing,

and it was a case in which we could also look at the possibility

of preserving the natural teeth.

Emdogain treatment is not possible for everyone.
