Hello!
This is Lucid Dental Clinic.
Today at Lucid Dental Clinic, we will look at the first step in protecting oral health.
Let’s learn about the proper way to brush your teeth.
It is said that oral health affects mental health.
If gum inflammation continues, stress responses increase,
and this can disrupt the balance of serotonin and
dopamine in the brain, which regulate emotions,
raising the risk of depression and anxiety disorders.
That is why it is important to protect a healthy mouth with the proper brushing method.

Finding the brushing method that suits me
I brush regularly after meals,
but many people worry because they still get a lot of cavities or tartar.
For proper brushing, not only the '333 brushing method'—brushing three times a day,
within three minutes after meals, for three minutes—but also specific details about
'when' and 'how' to brush need to be understood.
Various food debris and bacteria we consume
combine and stick to the surface of the teeth, forming a film.
This is called dental plaque, or plaque.
When the acid released by bacteria in plaque after metabolism
erodes the tooth surface, it becomes a cavity,
and when our body creates inflammation to fight bacteria,
causing the jawbone around the gums to dissolve, that becomes periodontitis.
In other words, plaque naturally formed on the tooth surface
is the cause of cavities and gum disease.

However, in many people, even after brushing,
it is easy to see that this plaque remains and is not properly removed.
Although you brush regularly and try to maintain
your dental health, the reason cavities develop is
mostly because people do not know the correct way to brush.
We have 32 teeth in total, but people often focus only on cleaning the front teeth that are visible.
In particular, the molars, which play the biggest role in chewing,
are located deep inside the mouth and are hard to see,
so food debris stuck between the inside of the molars and the gums
can remain and turn into tartar,
and tartar can cause cavities.
If brushing habits learned incorrectly in childhood become familiar,
you may end up with inefficient brushing habits,
and even if you brush diligently, cavities and gum disease
can still develop.

For a behavior to become a habit, it must be repeated consistently for at least two to three months.
So if cavities still develop even though you brush hard,
you should check your brushing habits and continue making an effort
to make the proper brushing method a habit.
Try the Bass method, which Lucid Dental Clinic recommends for healthy gums.
A tip here is that the Bass method has an anti-inflammatory effect and is suitable for patients with gum disease,
and you should also remember to use a soft-bristled toothbrush.

Lastly, one important point in the proper way to brush your teeth is 'checking the type of toothbrush carefully.'
When choosing a toothbrush, select one with a moderate size that covers about 2 to 3 teeth,
and if you use too much toothpaste, it can wear down the teeth,
so you should use only about one-third of the recommended amount.
tip
Using dental floss, mouthwash, and a Waterpik can
reduce bacteria in the mouth and improve bad breath.
It is best to choose a product that contains fluoride.
I hope today's post was helpful to you all,
and I will end here.
Thank you.
